White Cloud Mountain minnow

The White Cloud Mountain minnow (Tanichthys albonubes) is a freshwater fish species originating from China. Once thought to be extinct in its native habitat, it was rediscovered and is now commercially bred. This species typically reaches a maximum size of 4 cm. Males are usually more brightly colored and have a slimmer body shape compared to females, exhibiting fan-shaped dorsal and anal fins.

These minnows are known for their adaptability and peaceful nature, making them suitable for community aquariums. White Cloud Mountain minnows thrive in cooler water temperatures, making them a good choice for unheated tanks in temperate climates. They are omnivorous and will accept a variety of foods, including flakes, small pellets, and live or frozen foods. The species prefers a well-planted tank with open swimming spaces.
