Rummy-nose tetra

Freshwater

Hemigrammus bleheri

The Rummy-nose Tetra (Hemigrammus bleheri) is a small, schooling fish native to the Rio Negro and Rio Vaupés basins of South America. It is characterized by its bright red face and nose, which intensifies with stress or during breeding. The body is generally silver, and the caudal fin features distinctive black and white stripes. This tetra is a peaceful species, well-suited for community aquariums with similar-sized, non-aggressive tankmates. They thrive in well-planted tanks with soft, slightly acidic water. Rummy-nose Tetras are omnivorous and readily accept a varied diet of small-sized prepared foods, frozen foods, and live foods.
