Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi
The Black Neon Tetra (Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi) is a small, peaceful freshwater fish native to the Paraguay River basin in South America. It is characterized by a black body with a prominent, iridescent yellow-green stripe running horizontally along its length. A small, bright orange marking is typically present above each eye. Black Neon Tetras are well-suited to community aquariums with other peaceful species. They thrive in planted tanks with soft, slightly acidic water and subdued lighting. These fish are schooling fish and should be kept in groups of five or more to ensure their well-being. They readily accept a varied diet of small foods, including flakes, micro pellets, and small live or frozen foods.
