Corydoras aeneus
The Albino Aeneus Corydoras (Corydoras aeneus) is a popular freshwater fish known for its peaceful nature and scavenging behavior. A selectively bred color morph of the bronze corydoras, this fish exhibits a pale pink or white coloration. Native to the Amazon River basin in South America, it inhabits slow-moving streams and tributaries. This Corydoras is characterized by its small size, typically reaching up to 7 cm in length, and the presence of barbels around its mouth, which it uses to sift through the substrate for food.
Albino Aeneus Corydoras are social creatures and thrive in groups, ideally six or more individuals. They are well-suited for community aquariums due to their calm temperament. The ideal aquarium setup includes a soft, sandy substrate to protect their delicate barbels, ample hiding places among plants and driftwood, and well-filtered water. These fish are omnivorous, consuming a variety of foods, including flake food, sinking pellets, frozen foods (such as brine shrimp and bloodworms), and live foods. Regular water changes are essential for maintaining optimal water quality. Breeding can be achieved in the home aquarium by providing slightly acidic water within the ideal temperature range, and simulating rainfall with a cooler water change.
